The Virginia DCJS 40E Bail Bondsman course is the mandatory entry-level training for individuals seeking licensure to provide bail bonds in the Commonwealth. This comprehensive program ensures that bondsmen understand their dual role as financial guarantors and agents of the court. The curriculum consists of 40 hours of classroom instruction (excluding exams and practical exercises). Submit a license application along with required fees (approximately $900 for the initial license). 4. Submit fingerprints for a criminal history background check. 5. Be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or legal resident alien.
