Service Description

The course typically spans 18 hours of classroom instruction and covers the following essential pillars:  • Orientation and Law: Introduction to the DCJS regulatory system, the Code of Virginia, and the legal limits of a security officer's authority (including arrest powers and liability).  • Emergency Procedures: Training on fire prevention, emergency response protocols, and basic life safety.  • General Duties: Instruction on patrol techniques, access control, report writing, and observation skills.
